It is predicted that Internet advertising will continue to grow, and should reach $33 billion by 2004. Meanwhile, the FCC's Office of Plans and Policies stated in July that the Internet should remain free from government regulation. Total revenues generated overall last year on-line reached $300 billion. In a year that amount is expected to double, driven by market forces, investment and competition without government intervention. In 1998 President Clinton signed a bill into law that protects the Internet from any new federal, state, or local taxes for three years. Currently 80 million Americans have Internet connections, and millions more have access to connections at work or elsewhere.

According to the August 1999 issue of Business Products Professional, printers experienced average first quarter sales increases of 6.6 percent over the first quarter of 1998. this is a stronger showing than last year's reported growth of 5.7 percent.

By 2002, it is expected that more than 50 percent of all Americans will utilize prepaid phone cards. The increase in use will be driven by various promotions, giveaways, incentives and other special uses.
