, all kinds of things are now possible. Thermography, or "raised printing," is a specialized printing process involving heat. An industry within an industry,
thermography has come into wide use for such items as invitations, stationery, business cards, and greeting cards.
Most recently, it has been adopted to enhance labels for packaging and bottles, and for books and book covers. The
eye-appeal of thermography is used to increase the "wow" factor of printed material, and to add a new dimension and value to a wide variety of products.
Among the fastest growing markets for the printing industry is packaging. Designed to both protect products and
catch the eye of potential customers, effective packaging is an essential marketing tool and can be the life or death of an otherwise worthy product.
Because research shows that most consumer purchases are at least in part impulsive and made spur of the moment
at a store, it is crucial for packaging to attract favorable attention. Dimension, sheen, texture, and visual interest can be
added with thermography, at a cost much less expensive than traditional foil stamping, embossing, and UV coating. More good news about the WT500
is that it can be added to a web label or offset press. This retrofit web thermography unit makes it possible to do in-line thermography in conjunction with flat printing all in one pass
through the press, without reducing the speed of the press. You can produce thermography on a web press for labels,
forms, advertising pieces, gift wrap, book covers, greeting cards, and much more, all at very minimal additional cost. You get more, you get it cheaper, and you get it just as fast.
This breakthrough eliminates the cost of a separate off-line process, lowers costs dramatically, and increases profit
